Actor and acting coach Saurabh Sachdeva shared insights into his unique journey in the film industry during the closing ceremony of the Jagran Film Festival 2025 in Mumbai. Known for his work in films like Animal and Vadh, as well as the critically acclaimed Netflix series Sacred Games, Sachdeva reflected on how his career began unexpectedly and the challenges he overcame along the way.

Describing himself as an “accidental actor,” Sachdeva said, “I never wanted to be an actor, but I ended up with a great acting coach, Barry Johns, who understood me. My schooling was bad, I was dyslexic, and the way he taught me by understanding me, rather than teaching me a subject, it never felt like a burden. I enjoy what I do, and since a couple of years, I started taking risks, and I am growing as an actor.”

Before becoming a recognized face on screen, Sachdeva dedicated over 25 years to coaching aspiring actors. He explained, “I’ve been teaching at my own school, Actor’s Truth, for the last eight years. It’s a powerful space. Not many people know that I also teach on YouTube, and we even have an app for those who cannot come to Mumbai. Acting can be expensive, so online learning helps many people. I’m really happy with this work.”

When asked for advice for emerging actors, Sachdeva emphasized persistence, creativity, and stepping outside comfort zones. “Keep on it. If you want to be someone, keep taking risks. Take massive action. Do something that shakes you a little. Don’t stay in your comfort zone. Do something every day. Don’t wait for the big opportunity—nothing is going to come. You have to create one. Be creative and create your life,” he advised.

Sachdeva began his film career with Maroon in 2016 and rose to prominence with his role as Suleiman Isa in Sacred Games (2018). His filmography also includes Manmarziyaan (2018), Laal Kaptaan (2019), Housefull 4 (2019), Vadh (2022), Animal (2023), Haddi (2023), Kaala (2023), Bambai Meri Jaan (2023), Jaane Jaan (2023), and Pushpa 2: The Rule (2024).

Through his journey, Sachdeva’s story highlights how challenges, like dyslexia and unconventional beginnings, can be transformed into opportunities with the right mentorship, hard work, and willingness to take risks. His words serve as an inspiring guide for aspiring actors to forge their own paths in the industry.
